Chamber

July of this year, I formed a chamber trio group with my friends Marvin Tan (clarinet) and Alden Wong (piano) to explore and perform repertoire for two clarinets and piano. Inspired by our admiration for Felix Mendelssohn, we named our group Mendel Sons, with “Sons” symbolizing dedication and legacy, regardless of gender.

Our performances include a masterclass with Nicolas Baldeyrou in August 2024, a Platform performance in September 2024 at NAFA’s Lee Foundation Theatre, a library concert and our chamber exam on November. While Mendelssohn’s Concert Pieces No 1 and 2 are central to our repertoire, we also explore works by composers like Michele Mangani, Concertpiece for two Clarinets and Piano and Darius Milhaud, Suite for Two Clarinets and Piano, arrangement. Our next performance will be on January 20th, 2025, at the NAFA Chamber Music Platform.
